A historic Tudor house with an elegant Parisian apartment vibe in Wisconsin

Amy Carman Design is chargeable for the whole transformation of this gorgeous historic Tudor house that’s positioned in River Hills, Wisconsin. A young family acquired this historic Tudor home, fully aware of the ambitious renovation that lay ahead. While lots of the original Nineteen Twenties-era features and charming elements remained intact, the kitchen and foremost living areas had suffered from a series of awkward remodels over time.

To breathe recent life into the house, they turned to Amy Carman Design, tasking them with crafting a contemporary, family-friendly kitchen replete with amenities for cooking and entertaining. The design team’s first step involved reimagining the kitchen’s layout, removing columns, introducing leaded glass windows, and creating spacious openings to seamlessly connect the front room and pantry.

The owners’ adventurous taste in color led to the choice of a deep emerald green hue for the kitchen’s perimeter cabinets and adjoining pantry. A close-by storage closet was cleverly transformed into a sublime pantry and wine room. Clad in brass, the wet bar cabinetry became the point of interest, surrounded by the luxurious foliage of a densely patterned wallcovering, giving the space a jewel box feel.

Drawing inspiration from the owners’ fondness for French design, the designers embraced a French aesthetic when furnishing the living and dining areas, leading to exquisitely layered spaces harking back to an elegant Parisian apartment.
